E2 Euganean Hills circular cycle route

100 metres from Hotel Marconi is the E2 Euganean Hills circular cycle route. This is a 63 km-long, fairly flat cycle or walking route that winds along the edge of the Euganean Hills Regional Park. The route is surrounded by nature and perfect for those who love walking or cycling. The whole circular route requires a full day and a good fitness level, but you can also do shorter sections.

In Montegrotto Terme, about 2 km away. Besides the “Villa”, there are also woodland paths that criss-cross the surrounding area of about 32 hectares.

Monastero di San Daniele

The ``San Daniele`` Monastery

In Abano Terme, about 4.5 km away. Built on the top of the hill of the same name in the early 11th-century, and clearly visible from the circular cycle route, it has, after various vicissitudes, been home to the Benedictine Monks of Fiume since 1948. It houses a small church, a museum and shop selling natural products made from herbs and from honey.

Castello del Catajo

In Battaglia Terme, about 4 km away. The original nucleus was built in the early 16th century in celebration of the magnificence of the Obizzi family. It has over 350 rooms, the Giardino delle Delizie, and 40 hectares of grounds. Catajo Castle is considered one of Europe’s most impressive historic houses.

Villa dei Vescovi

About 8 km away. Donated to FAI (Italy’s National Trust) in 2005, the villa was built in the early 16th century by Alvise Cornaro, commissioned by the Bishop of Padua.

The splendid scenery of the Euganei Hills

Running or walking, you have a view of the Euganean Hills along the routes, surrounding by a landscape of cultivated fields and flowering trees. You can also stop along the way to try some local produce.
At Hotel Marconi, bike storage is provided, whether you bring it with you or rent it (the latter can be done at the hotel’s main entrance).
The cycling/walking routes are also much used for Nordic walking. The hotel can provide Nordic walking sticks, as well as a qualified instructor who can give lessons or create small groups to practice the sport in the hotel park.
